Fuzzy Set Theory and Its Application, 3rd Edition

0

As its name implies, the theory of fuzzy sets is, basically, a theory of graded concepts - a theory in which everything is a matter of degree or, to put it figuratively, everything has elasticity. In the two decades since its inception, the theory has matured into a wide-ranging collection of concepts and techniques for dealing with complex phenomena that do not lend themselves to analysis by classical methods based on probability theory and bivalent logic.
This book can be used as an introduction to the subject. The book updates the research agenda (which has witnessed profound and startling advances since its inception some 30 years ago) with chapters on possibility theory, fuzzy logic and approximate reasoning, expert systems, fuzzy control, fuzzy data analysis, decision making and fuzzy set models in operations research. All chapters have been updated. Exercises are included.
